Starting TerraFlow Mobile and Selecting Your Job
Learn how to power up your equipment, log in to TerraFlow Mobile, and navigate to the correct project and job for data collection.
Time needed: 3-5 minutes
Before you start:
- Have your TerraFlow login credentials (email and password)
- Know which project and job you'll be working on
- Ensure all equipment is charged (sensors, GPS, mobile device)
- Verify you've been registered and invited to TerraFlow by your organization administrator
Step 1: Power Up Your Equipment
Turn on all devices in the correct order to ensure proper connections.
- Turn on your sensor device if using one (locator, laser, Ludlum, Geonics, etc.)
- Turn on your location (GPS) device if using a separate GPS unit
- Turn on your mobile device and open the TerraFlow Mapper product
Starting sensors before the app allows time for Bluetooth connections to establish and GPS to acquire satellites.
Step 2: Log In to TerraFlow
Access your TerraFlow account to begin working with your data.
First-time users: You must be registered with TerraFlow before logging in. If you haven't received an invitation, contact your organization administrator to add you to the system.
If you're not already logged in:
- Enter your email address in the username field
- Enter your password
- Tap Login
TerraFlow will remember your login on this device. You'll only need to log in again if you log out or switch accounts.
Step 3: Select Your Project
Choose the project that contains the data you want to work with or collect data for.
- Review the list of available projects
- Tap the project you want to open
Projects organize your work by location, client, or initiative. If you don't see the project you need, contact your organization administrator to verify your access permissions.
Step 4: Select or Create Your Job
Jobs organize data collection sessions within a project. You can select an existing job or create a new one.
To Select an Existing Job
- Review the list of jobs within your project
- Tap the job you want to collect data into or view
You're now ready to begin data collection or review existing data in this job.
To Create a New Job
If you need to start a new job for today's work:
- Tap Add Job
- Enter the job details:
- Job name
- Any required fields (varies by organization)
- Tap Save or Create
- Tap the newly created job to open it
Creating jobs in the field allows you to organize data by date, crew, or work area. Follow your organization's naming conventions for consistency.
Troubleshooting
Can't log in / "Invalid credentials" error?
- Verify you're entering the correct email address (check for typos)
- Ensure your password is correct (passwords are case-sensitive)
- Check that you have an active internet connection
- Confirm you've been invited to TerraFlow by your administrator
- Try resetting your password if you've forgotten it
Don't see any projects after logging in?
- Verify you have an internet connection to sync projects
- Contact your organization administrator to confirm you've been added to projects
- Try logging out and logging back in
- Tap Refresh Projects on the screen to refresh the project list
Project list is empty or missing expected projects?
- Check that you're logged in with the correct account
- Verify your organization administrator has granted you access to those projects
- Ensure you have internet connectivity to download project data
- Contact your administrator to verify project permissions
Sensors not connecting after startup?
- Verify sensors are powered on and in pairing mode
- Check Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device
- Wait 30 seconds after powering on sensors before opening TerraFlow
- Go to Settings > Sensor Settings to manually select your devices

Tips for Success
- Power-up order matters: Always turn on sensors before opening TerraFlow for best connection reliability
- Stay logged in: TerraFlow keeps you logged in between sessions—you rarely need to log out
- Organize with jobs: Create separate jobs for each day, work area, or crew for easier data management
- Job naming conventions: Follow your organization's standards (e.g., "2025-10-09_MainSt_Crew1")
- Pre-field prep: Verify your project and job access in the office before heading to the field
- Internet connection: Initial login and project sync require internet, but data collection works offline
- Multiple devices: If you use TerraFlow on multiple devices, log in to each one separately
