Setting Up Eos Arrow GPS with TerraFlow Mobile

Learn how to configure your Eos Arrow high-accuracy GPS receiver with TerraFlow Mobile for precision data collection with real-time corrections.

Time needed: 15-20 minutes

Before you start:

  • Have your TerraFlow ID credentials ready
  • Ensure your Eos Arrow GPS is fully charged
  • Know your correction datum (NAD83 CSRS for Canada, NAD83 2011 for United States)
  • Have access to Google Play Store for app downloads
  • Verify you have an active RTK correction service subscription
  • Know which TerraFlow Mapper product you'll be using

Step 1: Download and Install Required Applications

Install all necessary applications from the Google Play Store before configuring your GPS.

  1. Open Google Play Store on your Android device
  2. Search for and download Eos Tools Pro
  3. Search for and download your TerraFlow Mapper product:
    • TerraFlow Mobile
    • TerraFlow Pole Mapper
    • TerraFlow Sensor Mapper
    • TerraFlow Surface Mapper
  4. Install both applications

Eos Tools Pro manages GPS settings and corrections, while TerraFlow handles data collection. Both applications work together to provide high-accuracy positioning.

Step 2: Pair the Eos Arrow GPS

Connect your Eos Arrow GPS to your Android device via Bluetooth.

  1. Power on your Eos Arrow GPS (the blue light should begin flashing)
  2. Open Settings on your Android device
  3. Navigate to Connections > Bluetooth
  4. Tap Scan to search for available devices
  5. When your Eos Arrow appears in the list, tap it to pair
  6. Enter the pairing code if prompted

The blue flashing light indicates the GPS is powered on and ready to pair. Once paired successfully, the device will appear as "Connected" in your Bluetooth settings.

Step 3: Configure Eos Tools Pro

Set up your GPS corrections and positioning settings in Eos Tools Pro.

  1. Open Eos Tools Pro
  2. Follow the Eos Tools Pro configuration documentation to:
    • Configure your RTK correction source
    • Set your coordinate system
    • Verify GPS signal quality
    • Confirm correction data is being received

Refer to the Eos Tools Pro user guide or Eos documentation for detailed configuration steps specific to your correction service provider. Proper configuration is essential for achieving high-accuracy positioning.

Step 4: Configure Location Settings in TerraFlow

Connect TerraFlow to your Eos Arrow GPS and configure coordinate transformation settings.

  1. Open your TerraFlow Mapper product
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Scroll down to Location Settings
  4. Select NMEA from the Location Provider dropdown
  5. Select the Bluetooth address for your GPS unit in the Location Device dropdown

Step 5: Configure Coordinate Transformation

Set the correct coordinate transformation based on your region and correction datum.

Option A: Canada (NAD83 CSRS)

If you're working in Canada and using NAD83 CSRS as your correction datum:

  1. In Translation to WebMercator, select:
    • NAD83 CSRS --> WebMercator

Option B: United States (NAD83 2011)

If you're working in the United States and using NAD83 2011 as your correction datum:

  1. In Translation to WebMercator, select:
    • NAD832011 ITRF 2014 --> WebMercator

Option C: Alternative Correction Datum

If you're using a different correction datum:

  1. Contact support@terraflow.ca for the correct Translation to WebMercator setting
  2. Provide your:
    • Correction service provider
    • Datum/coordinate system
    • Geographic work area

Coordinate transformation ensures your GPS coordinates display correctly in TerraFlow's mapping system. Using the wrong transformation can result in positioning errors of several meters.

Step 6: Verify GPS Accuracy

Confirm your Eos Arrow is providing high-accuracy positioning before collecting data.

  1. Check the GPS accuracy indicator in TerraFlow
  2. Verify you're receiving RTK corrections (typically showing centimeter-level accuracy)
  3. Ensure you have a clear view of the sky for optimal satellite reception
  4. Wait for accuracy to stabilize before beginning data collection

RTK-corrected GPS typically achieves 1-5 cm accuracy. If you're seeing meter-level accuracy, check your correction service connection in Eos Tools Pro.

Troubleshooting

Eos Arrow not appearing in Bluetooth scan?

  • Verify the GPS is powered on (blue light flashing)
  • Ensure the GPS is within 10 feet of your mobile device
  • Check that the GPS battery has sufficient charge
  • Turn Bluetooth off and on again on your mobile device
  • Try restarting the Eos Arrow GPS

GPS paired but not showing in TerraFlow Location Device dropdown?

  • Close and reopen TerraFlow
  • Verify the Bluetooth connection is active in Android settings
  • Ensure "NMEA" is selected as Location Provider first
  • Restart TerraFlow and check again

GPS accuracy showing meters instead of centimeters?

  • Open Eos Tools Pro and verify correction data is being received
  • Check your RTK correction service subscription is active
  • Ensure you have a clear view of the sky (no obstructions)
  • Verify your correction source settings in Eos Tools Pro
  • Wait 1-2 minutes for RTK solution to initialize

Wrong coordinate transformation selected?

  • Verify your correction datum with your GPS service provider
  • Contact support@terraflow.ca if unsure which transformation to use
  • Incorrect transformation causes positioning offsets—fix before collecting data

TerraFlow not using GPS coordinates?

  • Verify "NMEA" is selected as Location Provider
  • Check that the correct Bluetooth address is selected as Location Device
  • Ensure the GPS has an active connection (check Bluetooth settings)
  • Try toggling the location provider to "Device GPS" and back to "Trimble GNSS"

Blue light not flashing on Eos Arrow?

  • Check battery level—recharge if needed
  • Press and hold power button to turn on
  • Verify the GPS is functioning by connecting to Eos Tools Pro
